I started thinking about career-related issues very early. I wanted to be a musician shortly after I got into grade school. I think it was because the music was easy and fun for me. I generally learned music quicker than my peers. It was a good feeling being ahead of others. I was naturally fascinated by the shape and the sounds of all kinds of musical instruments. I wanted to be an orchestra conductor after I saw a movie about Tanglewood, in my third grade. I literally started learning to conduct privately without telling anybody. After I had a chance to visit a print shop owned by one of my aunts and managed by her brothers I started to think about picking up some experiences working in that shop during summer vacation. I did not dare to bring it up simply because it was too much to commute from my home to the shop even though we were in the same city. 12:43 2/22/2021 竹圍教會首創的忘年團契就要開始了。  須要再微調這些相關的司靠，以便萬一有人願意受訪記下回憶，使這些成為實際運用的工具。 或許須要在安排訪談的時候說明這些相關的風險及承諾。 只要有紀錄說已經說明過了，即使沒有千同意書，也可當作是默許。這些說蒙的紀錄葛以成為在當事人過往之後發表回憶的基礎。 11:13 11/25/2020 元月投票選出總統之後參加旅行團遊日本一趟。除了觀賞我的第一個戶籍國日本的一些寶之外，也體驗到世界第一強傳染病的初發威脅。最難得的是親耳聽到一位創業、創領域的台灣人。迫不及待地相約在台灣見，學習一些創業的知識與思考。 二月下旬，映在美國親人的催促，臨時改變計畫逃回美國，偏安中西部。聽故事學事業的機會一下子泡湯了。 九月中旬，奇妙地又回到台灣，歪事接踵而來，時間精力不在掌握的範圍內。幾經折騰後，終於約到時間要去聽故事了。 如何準備、如何進行才可能是這回的故事收集成為關鍵性的轉折點。把回憶寫作法往前面再推一步呢？昨天想到的是一種新的契約使收集故事的步驟更簡潔、更易懂、更易被接受。過去草擬的契約是由提供故事的人簽字同意被訪談、被撰寫。可是簽約總是會讓人緊張、惶恐的事情，因為密密麻麻的條文不容一快速理解而放手簽下去。這回要嘗試的是反向的契約，由收集者簽署同意各項約束，交給被訪談者保存，放心講故事。 同意事項起碼包含下列： 此次訪談引言者與錄音/錄影/謄寫者是志願的無給工作，一切相關費用自行吸收。不索取任何形式的報償。 訪談者應該及時盡力說明訪談的優缺點及風險，並隨時提醒相關人士必要的預防措施，包括避免「涉及人事物」的直接論斷、攻擊、或間接（影射式）褒貶。 訪談者應該及時盡力提出值得刪除的「口誤」及涉及其他風險，包括隱私及機密，的內容，並提出相關的刪除計畫，含步驟。 訪談進行中所需的同步錄音或錄影由受訪者決定開始、結束、暫停、重聽、重看、刪除、恢復的時機。訪談者與操作機器者需尊重並適時配合操作。 訪談進行中所需的同步錄音或錄影所得歸受訪者所有。由受訪者決定何時、何段可以轉遞、公開、下架、銷毀，並以簽名書面通知確認。事後改變內容的要求在書面確認後才可執行。 訪談的錄音或錄影所得若由受訪者在事後提出改變內容的要求，操作「內容改變」者必須等收到確認書簽署後才可執行。 提供事後改變內容的成品一份給受訪者或其指定代理人士，並以簽名...

9:00 2020/8/29  Taiwanese is the first language I learned naturally at home and at the church building where my family resided. I was not aware of the existence of Mandarin until 7 after I attended grade school. Obviously, I was totally lost the first moment I stepped into the classroom and could not be assigned a seat because I was accepted into the school after the number of enrollment was less than anticipated, in 1952. I was accustomed to the classroom atmosphere in the church Sunday School but not the disciplines and the language used in the public school. Basically, my classmates were in the same situation except I missed the first couple of weeks because I was considered one year younger and not qualified for entering the school that year because my birthdate was more than one month after the standard date for the school year. This was inspired by attending the oral defense of Cho-chien Feng yesterday at 2pm through web meeting. Here is his resume as of now .  I knew his dissertation plan for a long time and I had listened to one of his special speeches about some of the content in a special speech gathering of the Taiwanese Association of America in St. Louis last year. 2020/6/26 13:11 A morning nap took me into a new territory of imagination or in-dream-action. In the dream, I was given instruction from a mentor to look for ideas for interviewing some people for new projects by going through a pile of papers he collected with Samson and Tai. 作者/蘇希宗 () 　　2006/1/30他走了。就在春節假期中。 　　在許多的嘆息聲中，親友們聚集在濟南教會， 好些教會前輩高俊明牧師、胡茂生牧師、、也都出席了，翁修恭牧師為他主持追思告別禮拜及證道，不是因為他在教會組織中曾攀上什麼大位，有什麼豐功偉業，只是大家挽惜一位曾經傑出的人物，這樣子離開了。只因為在台灣基督長老教會歷史重要的時刻，他的蹤跡也曾留下值得記述的一頁。我是他表兄，就由我來寫一些他的事蹟。 ※　出生、成長 　　1943/11/16他出生在嘉義新港鄉，世居共和村，村人叫他藍子厝，這是一個很敬虔基督化的村莊。外祖父是新港教會元老江旭長老，父親蔡石憐先生，母親蘇路德女士（為蘇天明牧師之三姐，）家中八個兄弟姊妹他排行老么，兄長及姊姊們都熱心於教會，或擔任長執。小時候我們每年回鄉省親時，村中小朋友很多，只聽大家在叫著「阿夫仔」的名字，卻一直不認識他，直到我高二暑假時，大弟希三帶來一個中學生來住在家裡，才知道他與弟弟在長榮中學就讀，弟弟初中畢業，他以高一生的身份重考高雄中學，兩人相約同時都考上了高一，就來寄宿在我家。我們兄弟原來擠在新興教會明星街牧師館一間四坪的通舖臥室中，房間擺上三張書桌，晚上躺平在他他米上睡覺，他來了，只好共用書桌，晚上就更擠了。家中有客人長期住宿，對我們家而言是常有的，家父在他的回憶錄中就提到他一生中收留了二十幾位親戚、會友、青年、子弟，一起生活學習，也有要求牧師幫忙管教的。 　　我們生活空間雖擁擠，兄弟一起讀書互相激勵卻能事半功倍。每屆月考，我們就互相出題模擬考試，他竟然常常以背誦整課課文毫無誤差來回答問題，真的達到「倒背如流」之境，顯示出他驚人的記憶力及獨特的讀書方法。 ※　中學時期自辦慧光文藝雜誌 　　在高雄中學的這一段日子，他就展現出多采多姿的面貌，我記憶所及最深刻的是高一1959時候就自行出刊一本油印的文藝雜誌，取名「慧光」，1960年代的戒嚴的政治氣氛仍然是無法形容的敏感，他以文藝青年的角色邀稿、主編、以「臻明」的筆名陸續發表文章餘各種雜誌刊物報紙。並自己刻寫鋼板、用新興教會的油印機一張張油印裝訂，分發給他的朋友同學，第一期就有一篇題目為「小偷」的文章，寫得很好很吸引人，直到約十年之後才知道這一篇的作者就是在文壇嶄露頭角的張曉風女士，那時她是屏東女中的學生，稿件可能是從學友團契的繆學理牧師而來的。 ※　學生...

Running across a Facebook post about the additional busy life of being lockdown and teach from home, I was reminded of my days of teaching and how I survived two concurrent fulltime jobs as a first-time college instructor and a full-time founder of the placement office of that new college. In 1995 I quit the job at the aircraft manufacturing company and went back to Taiwan reporting to the college on August 31 to meet the requirement of starting employment office for the new school year. I was led to the vacant classroom that was designated to be converted to be the office of alumni placement services. I was also assigned to teach three sessions of the required course of "introduction to computer" as part of the general education. My stories  我的故事  Góa ê kò͘-sū - 意外的 麥道之旅 -- 怎麼開始的 1536 字（含空白） 我的職稱在剛開始的時候是「系統分析員/師」。 當時系統分析員的工作有三層：最基本的就是照顧至少一套定期運作的系統。其次是維護、改善既有系統。資深的人才能在一套系統裡面設計新的程式規格。最資深的人才有機會設計包含多程式的全新的系統，甚至提供新系統的構想引導使用者思考。後來改成「程式/分析師」跟程式撰寫者共用職銜。 大家都知道大公司裡面職位很多 ，也就是機會很多。同時有不少人知道其實在大公司裡面很不容易獲得好機會，因為競爭激烈，隱藏的要素與要領也很多。 我誤打誤撞進入麥達諾飛機公司 McAir, McDonnell Aircraft 十五年、然後誤出麥道航太公司進入遼闊的資訊/助人領域的關鍵竟然「撿到機會」。 從求職開始就是夢一般的經歷。 我牽手在華盛頓大學圖書館服務。從中文圖書館的計時的插卡員開始。後來升為正式職員參加編目工作。然後轉到總館。大學開始由工商界出資舉辦一項新的夜間部學程訓練電腦程式撰寫員，招收已經具有學士學位（也就是說已經修過大學通識教育課程）的人選修專業課兩年後授予另一個學學位。她以學校員工的身份由學校支付學費參加受訓。完成第一年的課程後竟然被麥道公司的自動化公司聘用成為程式撰寫員，繼續在夜間受訓，改由麥道公司付學費。 她服務一年後，聽同事說或許可能幫我在公司裡找個工作。我就以這個陌生的公司裡的未知工作起草一份新的履歷表。後來知道同事願意把我的履歷表傳給協力部門看看。那個協力部門就是飛機製造公司的售後服務領域裡的系統部門。她的部門隸屬自動化公司專門承接這個製造公司裡售後服務部門寫出來的系統設計規格寫成電腦程式。那時我已經隨著我牽手在華大夜間部選修程式撰寫跟系統設計的課。我異想天開地創造一個新的履歷表寫法。 那份履歷表運用一個獨特的方法，因為我的背景沒有任何事情跟飛機製造的售後服務上關係。而我自己想像說一定要提出一些商業經驗，因為售後服務是商務。我的商務背景就是在餐館裡面端盤子。 其實我在美國讀書一學期後就開始打工了。第一份工是從學校佈告版找到的。有個人在一般乾洗店跟特殊乾洗店之間送貨。他天天訪問曼哈坦的乾洗店，收取需要送到特殊乾洗場去洗的衣物。...

My stories  我的故事  Góa ê kò͘-sū -  麥道之旅 March 20, 2019  （素材倉庫2020/3/12 12:57  https://kknews.cc/education/g6rlj9.html ) （已經忘了是哪一年在長途旅行的飛機座位上寫的。居然沒有有寫下日期與時間。） 服務將近十年時，有一天中午跟當初面試我的那位科長（ branch manager ）聊天。 ( 一位科長管理兩位股長 section manager，股長各管理五位最基層的股員 ) 他那時正在夜間進修要取得學士學位。他說當年部門裡並沒有缺，可是看我用那麼多年在唸書（ 6+6+4+2+4) ，覺得不可思議，就以系統分析員的職位雇用我。反正遲早會有缺。 記得上班後約兩個星期，我的股長告訴我，說我是  underpaid ( 不足薪？低於市價雇用 ) 認為 我不會留太久。實際上他們看好一位早我一週進去的女孩，盡力栽培她。結果她只待了全職受訓的兩週就走人了。 當時系統分析員的工作有三層：最基本的就是照顧至少一套定期運作的系統。其次是維護、改善既有系統。資深的人才能在一套系統裡面設計新的程式規格。最資深的人才有機會設計包含多程式的全新的系統，甚至提供新系統的構想引導使用者思考。 當時的資訊系統都是在印製報表而已，沒有及時系統，沒有螢幕監視器 monitor，資料只能經由卡片輸入。所謂照顧就是掌握資料進入的狀況，包括時間與數據。確定收到的資料室正確的。大家輪流值班待命。值班期間若接到電話說系統不正常，中途停頓，就立刻進辦公室，找出設計的規格文件對照印出來的報告，追尋問題的所在，提出解決方法。必要時找出所牽涉到的程式，呼召程式撰寫者   （ programmer ）進辦公室漏夜校正、修改程式，直到完成報告才回家睡覺，不管所遇到的系統是誰設計的，碰到的人就是要去研究。好像沒聽過有「無法解決」的事情。 我的第一個任務是照顧空軍的戰鬥機維修記錄。每個月會定期收到至少一大盤的磁帶。經由公司內部的郵寄系統，把磁帶交到資訊自動化公司  McAuto  去保管、等候上架處理。然後檢驗看看資料是不是有效。實際用電腦溜覽一次，記錄一些相關的數據。若有人要...

2020/2/29  17:25 大家都知道大公司裡面職位很多 ，也就是機會很多。同時有不少人知道其實在大公司裡面很不容易獲得好機會，因為競爭激烈，隱藏的要素與要領也很多。 我誤打誤撞進入麥達諾飛機公司 McAir, McDonnell Aircraft 十五年、然後誤出麥道航太公司進入遼闊的資訊/助人領域的關鍵竟然「撿到機會」。 我在這個公司所接觸到的任務都不是「要來的」，更不是「搶來的」，而是「撿來的」。換句話說，就是「沒人要的」。 這裡只拿兩件來回憶，因為想跟台灣的國防有關，想跟立法委員分享。 飛機製造業最有利可圖的不是賣飛機，而是維修飛機。雖然有賣舊飛機的商務，一架飛機原則上只賣一次。維修的生意卻可能維持數十年，而且是獨家生意。 飛機維修的事務牽涉很廣，最關鍵的卻是「技術手冊」的撰寫與發行。我這個在公司裡最資淺，只能撿垃圾為生的人竟然撿到這兩項關鍵性，卻沒人要的任務。 話說當年IBM發表第一代「整合性資料庫」DB2， 好像是回應美國國防部的要求「全軍採用整合性資料庫處理資料」避免各自為政的資料島提供矛盾資料。我知道的時候已經是80年代中葉了。19:47 ----- 2020/3/1 1:11 飛機公司總經理旗下有研發、材料、組裝、工程設計、售後服務、...等區。其中售後服務區從各個部門調出百多名員工組成一個特殊的臨時編組，稱為 CALS, Computer Aided Logistic Support, 以回應國防部為了招標下一台新飛機所提出的資格要求。從字面上看不出這個編組有什麼特色，因為早在60年代（可能更早些）就已經進入電腦處裡售後支援業務的時代了。那是個大開我的眼界的事件。 我以為許多人會搶著參加這樣新穎的特殊任務。我所屬的科從資深的員工開始派遣去參加這任務編組。想不到是能推則推，能躲則躲，受派的不久就要求退出改派其他任務。我是最資淺的人。輪到我的時候是沒有人可派了。其實也沒有什麼理由或優勢可以讓我要求或是拒絕加入。直到我被改組到其他科，我一直是那個科的最資淺員工，也是專門收拾殘局的人。 加入後參加訓練課程才知道關鍵在於採用新的資訊分析與設計的方法去運用新型的「整合性資料庫」。分析的過程不再靠靈感而是採用 SOP， Standard Operating Procedures 。而所謂標...
